Happō Keri – Eight-directional kicking
Happō Keri, 八方蹴, is the Ninjutsu term for kicking in eight directions. This training technique consists of four Ninjutsu kicks done, alternately, with both legs. Happō Keri is a part of the Chi Ryaku no Maki, the Bujinkan methodical list for trainees.
The four kicks are:
- Sokugyaku geri - Front push kick
- Sokoho geri - Side push kick
- Koho geri - Backward kick
- Sukui Keri - Scooping kick
The kicks are done in succession and thus improve balance and spatial orientation.
