Is ninjutsu possible in real life?

By Yossi Sheriff

Ninjutsu, the art of the Ninja, is a thriving and historically documented martial art that originated in feudal Japan. While popular media often portrays Ninjas with exaggerated or supernatural abilities, the core techniques and principles of Ninjutsu are grounded in reality and have been pressure tested for effectiveness.

In real life, NinjutsuNinjutsu encompasses a wide range of skills, including stealth, espionage, guerrilla warfare tactics, survival techniques, and close-quarters combat. These skills were developed and refined by the Ninja clans of Japan to enable them to operate as covert agents, scouts, and unconventional warriors in service of their lords or as mercenaries during times of conflict.

Today, Ninjutsu is practiced by enthusiasts and practitioners around the world as a martial art, a method of self-defense, and a means of personal development. Modern Ninjutsu schools, such as the AKBAN academy, focus on teaching authentic, historically documented techniques while adapting them to the needs and realities of the contemporary world.

While the popular image of the Ninja may be shrouded in myth and legend, the art of Ninjutsu is very much real and applicable in real-life situations. Through dedicated training and practice, individuals can cultivate the physical skills, mental discipline, and strategic thinking that are the hallmarks of the Ninja tradition.
