Ponteira
Video of Ponteira
Ponteira is a Capoeira kick. The name comes from the hitting tool, and a figurative description (as you're piercing the opponent).
Description of Ponteira
Ponteira is a basic kick. Raise the kicking leg and straighten the shin; when the point of the foot hits it enters like a nail "pointing" the opponent. The leg is slightly bent at the moment of contact (though there isn't), just like taking carefully direction; hands balance the kick.
Then the kicking leg is brought in parallel stance and the stationary leg starts the ginga. As usually, every school develops its mode, and entering and finishing phases (in the video you see kicking leg brought backward) are different from group to group.
